Zealots are uncommon in our culture, and uncommon in our faith practice.
As a family, Faithful Christians tend to discourage any emotion that is reactive and potent, and instead encourage the "steady as she goes" faith walk that is common among most.
So today, as I watch the thousands of Islam believers protest with anger after a local Denmark newspaper made cartoons about their beloved prophet, I wondered.....
Where are the Christian Zealots that should be shouting at the top of their lungs at the terrible injustices and lies and caricatures done against the Lord Jesus Christ! Why aren't there Christian men and women, taking to the streets and demanding the holy reverence to be shown to our true Savior and King?
Have we grown so complacent and common in our steady faith walk, that we no longer experience anger over the world's provocation through the attack of the One we love?
Do we think that the LORD GOD has disdain for Zealots? Do we think that defense of our Jesus Christ must be done in a quiet and respectful way? Is there any Christian brother or sister out there today that is appalled by the mocking and comedy relief made at the expense of Him? Is there anyone moved to stand?
The LORD GOD likes Zealots. Jesus Christ likes Zealots. In fact, we even privately like Zealots when they stand for us....
Imagine for a moment being the target of ridicule, when one stands against the crowd in defense of you and demands respect in your presence....What great love would be shown for such a brave act!
It's time each of us show that great love we have for our Savior, by standing against the times, and demanding that respect be given to Christ. If the Muslims are offended by the comic images of their prophet, how much more should Christians be offended at the false portrayals of our Christ?

“And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who [were] weeping [before] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw [it], he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: And he shall have it, and his seed after him, [even] the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.” (Nu 25:6-13 AV)

Are you blind and deaf? There are Christian Zealots all around us, and they shout at the heavens for all to hear. Listen to talk radio or watch Fox News. Some call them reporters. I call them zealots.
Honestly, you shouldn't look at Islamic Extremists and say to yourself "I want us to be more like them". Islam isn't the bad word there, it's "Extremist".
