Who am I? I AM YOUR BIBLE TEACHER!
I'm not a friend, a loved one, a peer, an associate, a contact point or a preacher.
I TEACH THE WORD OF GOD TO THOSE HE BRINGS ME!
I don't care whether I know you or not. You can be my friend, my family, my enemy, my casual acquaintance or my intimate wife...it doesn't matter; my teachings never vary. I teach the same thing to everyone that God brings in my path...His Word with the moving of the Spirit.
GOD IS MY BOSS!
You have in your possession a checklist to make sure I do my job perfectly. In fact, I tell you from the start...if I'm not doing my job perfectly, I want you to leave immediately, and don't look behind! Just that fact alone should cause each of you to consider the realities of this situation.
How many of you can conform to a checklist for your workplace, everyday, all day, every hour in view of everyone? Give it a try! It is humanly impossible for a person to meet all of the requirements all of the time for any job, even the most menial. Yet, God demands me to conform to His expectations all of the time, or else.
The False Teacher and False Prophet checklist is not some abstract piece of writing to entertain you...it is a serious document that requires serious consideration. It sets out the requirements that God has for me as His Bible Teacher that He has revealed in His Word. Where each of my students can casually discuss the merits of an issue, at the end of the day, I must always ensure that His Word is appropriately represented in my presence. If I fail at my job, there is a good chance that He will take my life immediately. That is how serious a matter this commitment is between Him and I. He knows I know, and I know He demands my complete and total focus and allegiance, regardless of how freely His teachings are tossed to the winds.
Who am I? I AM YOUR BIBLE TEACHER! I have dedicated my entire life to being your Bible Teacher. I study and pray and live as deeply as I can, so I can teach and guide you in the things He Wills. While my enemies and the misguided or unknowing can toss about words accusing me of wickedness and cultish behavior and suggest my motives are impure, my students must always stand firm and proclaim that I AM YOUR BIBLE TEACHER! To do any less allows the enemy to move in and create doubts in the midst of the moving of the Holy Spirit.
You cannot receive the deepest food from Him, and then wonder if there is some danger lurking behind our Bible Study. THERE IS NOTHING WITHIN OUR BIBLE STUDY BUT THE WORD OF GOD AND THE MOVING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! There is no hidden agenda or secrets or confusions with our teachings from the Word of God. All of our studies are public and known to be open for review and comment. The closed aspect of our private classroom is done to protect our students, not to hide anything, and we make sure that our teachings are publicly known by putting them on our public classroom.
I am not your husband, wife, brother, sister, daughter, son, preacher, priest, boss, or even your friend. First and foremost, I AM YOUR BIBLE TEACHER! I am proud to be your Bible Teacher, and I am confident that I have represented the teachings of Jesus Christ effectively and fruitfully.
I don't come to any of you with my natural life. I share only my spiritual life, my spirit, through this Internet. I have no physical, mental or spiritual control over any of you. You are free to come, and free to go; free to question, and free to disagree as long as it is not the Holy Spirit you are debating.
I just thought you would like to know how this Bible Teacher accepts responsibility for the things of God that you are taught by me and my Becker Bible Studies Staff!

I happen to be a student of David Becker. I have never in my entire life been taught to such a degree of dedication by anyone. I can attest to the fact that he teaches the Bible and thoroughly!
Our class is free to discuss anything, but it is always brought back to what we are learning from God's Word.
We don't have hundreds of students in the class. Why? It's serious business. We don't get a small lesson once a week or only listen to what David has to say. We study every single day of the week. Our studies are independent of each other, yet we all come together and share what the Holy Spirit is teaching us.
Today people don't seem to want to study the Bible. They want to be handfed once a week or on Easter and Christmas. Any person that says David or Becker Bible Studies is a cult, controlling, or wrongly teaching God's Truths has not been honestly involved and is only attempting to badger a man of God. I wouldn't want to be them when they one day stand before the God of all creation, or should I say kneel before God!
I am so blessed to be a part of the teaching by David Becker. It has changed my life! David didn't change my life, rather him leading me to the ONE changed me forever and ever.

Bless your heart, Lou. Thank you for the kind words.
I've got the best students, and you are the cream of the crop!
Thanks for your public support in these times!

Dear Mr. Becker,
I am the anonymous person you corresponded with a couple days ago, in answer to a question I had regarding the role of women in the church. I was very impressed with your honesty, sincerity and humility. After our correspondence and reading some of your teachings, I believe you to be a true Bible Teacher. I wrote you a letter in fellowship@guided biblestudies.com asking about the private classroom because I tried to visit it,but couldn't register. After that, I read what you wrote on this blog: "All of our studies are public and known to be open for review and comment. The closed aspect of our private classroom is done to protect our students, not to hide anything, and we make sure that our teachings are publicly known by putting them on our public classroom."
Mr. Becker, I respect the idea of your class privacy. Where on your public classroom are the teachings your private class is studying right now? I would like to see what you are currently teaching them. I may just want to study on the public forum because I can remain anonymous. I have been hurt badly by Christians in a fellowship group where I shared the precious things the Holy Spirit had been teaching me...so I got trust issues. I truly long for real Agape' Christian fellowship, but is there such a thing now-a-days? Personal sharing on the internet is so dangerous because if someone doesn't like something you write, they can just block you out from their lives. It must make Jesus very sad that Christians can't love one another enough to take the time to understand one another. Jesus knew Peter would deny Him three times, yet He continued to love Him. He never rejected Peter. Jesus never said to Peter: "Peter, I know you are going to deny me three times, therefore I can't trust you and can't teach you anymore. You must leave our group." Why can't we follow our Lord's example with one another? He continued to love Peter and build him up, all the while knowing what he would do. Then after he denied Jesus, Jesus forgave him. Jesus never gives up on anyone. Why are we Christians so fast to judge, reject and condemn each other?
Mr. Becker, your writing about what it is to be a Bible Teacher is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit and the heart of God. You wrote:

I TEACH THE WORD OF GOD TO THOSE HE BRINGS ME! I don't care whether I know you or not. GOD IS MY BOSS!"
THAT IS JUST WHAT JESUS DID! He taught everyone who came to him. He loved everyone. He never refused to teach anyone.
Christians attacking other Christians is the worst witness we can possibly give to non-believers and baby Christians. "They will know that we are Christians by our Agape love", not our divisions. I think we should stop judging one another and get on with the business of loving, forgiving, bearing one another's burdens and have patience, understanding and long-suffering for one another. We need to be building up the Body of Christ, not try to remove the parts of His body we don't like or understand.
Mr. Becker, I am sorry to hear that Christians have attacked you. It only makes me believe that you must be doing something that Satan doesn't like! Be encouraged. Throughout history, the greatest works of God received the most persecution. You are in good company! You are following Jesus!
Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, we really need to stop creating divisions in the Body of Christ. Are we not One Body? By attacking Christ's Body, are we not crucifying Him all over again?
Mr. Becker, Please forgive me for taking up so much of your precious time. Thank you for giving me a public forum in which to express my strong feelings on this issue.
Annoymous,
I understand completely the vulnerabilities that you feel on this Internet; regrettably, in these days that vulnerability extends into churches and fellowships everywhere. The deterioration of Christian fellowship is predicted to unfold in these days, as family members attack each other. It is one of the saddest parts of my job, and one of the trickiest.
I'm a Bible Teacher. I teach who ever is brought to me. Sometimes I don't like them, but I don't have the luxury of measuring His Teachings to those I approve. I give the same amount of teachings to everyone I teach, all led by the Holy Spirit. My dearest wife and my worldly enemy have sat in the same room, hearing the same Word of God (of course my enemy became my brother after awhile, as the Spirit led him to be baptized). That's the way God's world works.
If you have read some of my writings, you will realize how hard I come down on pretend Christians. But sometimes, fellowship problems derive not from pretenders, but from damaged people who have lost all trust like you. That is why I established a private classroom, so those who are unable to fellowship with other Christians, have a voice and an opportunity to participate together. Even then, the new members that join the group are in a precarious situation for awhile, until trust can be gained. For the private classroom students, they cherish their fellowship so much that it is hard for them to allow a new person in.
That makes my job tough. I don't have that luxury. I have to teach whom God wills, and give the teachings He wants me to give. I established a public teaching on a blog; I duplicated the things from our personal classroom onto the public one. However, it never took off...The spirit of the teachings was lost in the sterile environment, and people just didn't want it.
Recently, we had some disruption in our private classroom, as different personalities came in and created conflict among the oldies. I realized at that point that I had to focus on making a Bible Study place that is free of "personality" and a requirement of "fellowship"; there had to be a place for you and others that are uncomfortable with that level of participation.
God moved me to establish a brand new public classroom at http://wisefolk.com/moodle/. I've just started developing it, and the first class is not going to start until 24 August. I am developing it with lectures, homework and tests. There is no fellowship involved. It is more like a college course, that teaches the deeper things of God. In fact, we have colleges looking at our development already, and considering sending their students our way.
We hope to one day be accredited, which means that we must use real people's names. However, the class is closed from the public eye, and there is absolutely no fellowship, or chance to be vulnerable in that setting. I'm making sure of it, and tying it up tighter than a sailor's net, to assure the vulnerable of their safety.
So today, I'm developing greater lessons that are first taught in our private classroom, and then bloom into something even greater that is given by Him to us. You sure are welcome to attend the first course with us. If you are interested, I know your name that you have shared. Just let me know, and I will enroll you, and on August 24, you can check our new public classes out!
Dear Mr. Becker,
Thank you for clearing all this up for me. I really do desire fellowship with other serious Bible students. I'd like to visit the Water and Light Fellowship Group and see where God leads.
See you there!
Anonymous,
While you remain anonymous in this post, you are not anonymous to God, and you are not anonymous to me. God never sends me someone to teach His things that tries to trick me, and pretend to be someone she is not. In fact, it is the devil that uses lies and trickery and I will not succumb to his wily efforts.
You've been given great opportunity for three times now, and each time you tried to switch things so you can be in control. You will not be in control of the things of God. Take heed.
If you are brought to me to teach even one thing, let it be to give up your control, and let God reign and guide your walk with Christ. Once that is mastered, you will be in the position of being taught His deeper things. Until then, I'm afraid that you have lost a very good Bible Teacher.
